In order to limit the spread of the coronavirus, Gilgit-Baltistan government has decided to impose 14 days strict lock-down in the districts of Gilgit, Skardu, Astore and Hunza.
At the meeting of the Provincial Coordination Committee, Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan has said that the recommendations made by the health experts, Home and Health Departments, as well as law enforcement agencies have taken steps. SOPs have been formed for medical stores, shops of vital products, food suppliers and construction-associated firms.
The meeting agreed that it would not be necessary for people from other parts of the world to reach Gilgit-Baltistan. More than 10,000 tourists are said to be entering Gilgit-Baltistan daily, thus further deteriorating the situation of coronaviruses in GB.
CM reported that in the midst of a crisis Gilgit Baltistan could not afford to open up the tourism sector. Chief Minister said that in Gilgit, Skardu and Astore, NDMA would create three PCR laboratories. In order to promote citizens, CM instructed Health Secretary to create a Coronavirus Support Line. He directed the authorities in Muhammadabad and the Baseen Hospitals to provide the missing facilities.
CM also instructed workers to train the fans in Chilas and the District of Astore. He also directed SOPs and other inspections to be followed. He welcomed Force Commander Gilgit-Baltistan ‘s efforts to provide rations for worthy families.
